Weimaraners are medium-sized gray dogs. According to the standard, Weimaraners should present a picture of grace, balance, strength, speed and stamina. They should have the ability to work with great endurance in the field. Weimaraners have a reputation of one the most aristocratic-looking dog breeds. The standard is strict as far as the height goes. Dogs measuring less than 24 inches or more than 28 inches are disqualified.

The Weimaraner's head is moderately long. The skin is drawn tightly. The neck is clean-cut and long. The expression is kind and keen. Eyes are gray or blue-gray. Ears are long, set high and slightly folded. The nose is gray.

The coat is short, and smooth, of a solid color, sometimes blending to lighter shades on the head and ears. As the Weimaraner is a gundog, white spots from injuries should not be penalized. A distinctly long coat is a disqualification. Longhaired Weimaraners are not registered.

Weimaraners - Rescues - Why this May Be Not Your Breed

Weimaraners are very active and versatile. They need a lot of exercise to maintain them in a proper physical and mental condition. Their intelligence and versatility require frequent training sessions and a lot of attention on your part. If you are a busy person who works full-time, you are hardly a Weim person. A small apartment, young children, cats may be the reasons you need to reconsider as well.
